ABOUT RICHARD MORRISON
Something of a creative genius, Richard
Morrison’s career in the film industry spans over
thirty years, more than 100 feature film
title sequences to his credit. Having studied graphics,
photography and film Richard Morrison
initially worked for design companies and advertising agencies,
creating openers for Franc Roddam, Sir Richard Attenborough
and Sir David Lean.
In the late seventies Richard Morrison
formed Plume, a design and production company for film and
TV media specialising in title
sequences, broadcast,
branding and commercials. Richard
Morrison is quoted as saying “there is a limitless
world of creativity”. His team went on to create award
winning designs for major UK and European TV channels, countless
feature film sequences –
Batman for Tim Burton, Brazil for Terry Gilliam and The Killing
Fields for Roland Joffé.
By the mid 1990’s Richard
Morrison found the demands of running a successful company
“compromised his creative aspirations”. In 1997
Richard Morrison closed the
door on Plume and re-evaluated his place in the design world.
His woodshed period did not last long and in the spring of
1998 Richard Morrison founded
Fig
Productions.
Richard Morrison continues
to produce major film title sequences,
more recently The Dreamers for Bernado Bertolucci, Two Brothers
for Jean-Jacques Annaud, and The Constant Gardener for Fernando
Meirelles, together with teaching/lecturing both in the UK
and Europe. Richard Morrison
has also featured on judging panels for creative awards including
BAFTA, D&AD, Design Week and has been shortlisted for
ID magazines Top 40 World Creatives. Since 2003 Richard
Morrison has completed more than 300 title
sequence treatments for scripts in development.

In 2001 Richard Morrison's
first book “CUT” was launched
in London and Dublin to great praise from fellow designers
and the public at large. Comprising of a photographic collection
of natural abstractions gathered throughout Richard
Morrison's career “during the constant wanderings
within mean streets”. Some of these images digitally
printed onto canvas have been shown at a number of exhibitions
in the UK.

Without question the most prolific creator of title sequences
in the U.K. at present, Richard
Morrison’s talent is likened to that of the late
Saul Bass and Pablo Ferro.
